In 1929, Dallas businessman, Justin Ford Kimball came up with the idea of "group hospitalization". Teachers could pay 50 cents a month in exchange for hospital coverage. Ninety years later, Kimball's plan has evolved into the Blue Cross Blue Shield we know today.
